Exclusive! Avinash Wadhawan shares his views on social media, reveals if he feels that OTT will take over television and Bollywood
MUMBAI: Avinash is a very well-known actor in the entertainment industry, and he has played iconic roles on television.
The actor has worked in films like Junoon, Geet, and Balmaa. He featured in Colors TV show Balika Vadhu as Anup Shekhar.
Currently, he is seen in Zee TV’s show Agar Tum Na Hote, where he is essaying the role of Gajendra Pandey.
For actors, social media is a huge platform through which they can connect with their fans. But it has its plus and minus points. What is your take on this?
I am not so active on social media. For me, social media is a place where one should be ready for criticism and take it in a healthy way. Negative comments shouldn’t hurt anyone. We should take positive comments and negative comments in our stride. No success can be measured through social media. We are fortunate that through social media, we can talk to our fans, but one should not misuse it.
What is your take on the OTT platform taking over television and Bollywood?
All three are different platforms, and all will all survive for a long time. Even when television began, people did watch evening shows, but the business of cinema was not affected. As far as web series are concerned, the audiences are getting addicted to it, but cinema won’t suffer. People might not come to the theatres if they are afraid due to the pandemic.
The plus point for web series would be that the public can see it even at 2 AM from anywhere. But according to me, all three will survive.
Do you have any dream roles?
Well, in my career, I have played different types of characters. I have done strong negative characters. I have played the antagonist and protagonist in many projects. In the future, I want to play strong, character-driven roles.
