Society should give birth to individuality and not curb it, says Ekta Kapoor
MUMBAI: Producer-director Ekta Kapoor, who has been ruling television screens with her shows for more than 20 years now, always chooses script over talent.
In an interview with Indian Express, Ekta was asked what makes her choose any project and she said that she always chooses script over talent and there’s an instinct that’s honed along with experiments, experiences and audience feedback.
The lady, who also backed a number of films, further added, “Success and failure comes later. With Veere Di Wedding, I was in a tough space financially, but I went ahead with it, and it worked.”
When she was quizzed about the most risky project for her till date and she said that it was The Dirty Picture as it was a Rs 12 crore loss on paper.
Ekta became a mother this year. She welcomed her baby boy via surrogacy. When asked her thoughts if the society is ready for surrogacy at large, she said that she has no idea about society but her family is ready.
She stated that society should give birth to individuality and not curb it and that it should support all and one, and not condemn anyone. “I have always been guided by the ability to do what I want, not just what’s expected from me,” she said.
